Day 3 Poole to Littlehampton
It was so hard to get up this morning, the warmth of the comfy bed made me want to sleep forever. When we finally got up, it was 6:15 and we brushed our teeth then went downstairs for a lovely breakfast. The start of our cycle in the morning should've been pretty easy as it was flat for 5 miles along the beach but there was a lot of head wind making it harder to go fast. Cycling along bornmouth beach I was shocked at the amount of rubbish people had littered all across the beautiful beach; we cycled for 5 miles along the beach cycle path and there wasn't a spot on the beach which didn't have some sort of rubbish on it! There were piles of rubbish where people had obviously had barbecues the night before and rings of plastic bottles literally everywhere. I later found out that in a survey done in 2021 70tones of plastic is reported to be dumped up and down this beach!
We continued to cycle for another 20ish miles (took us 1 hour 30mins) rushing to get to the ferry before it left for the Isle of Wright. Luckily we made it just in time with just 15 minutes to spare. When we got off the ferry, in Portsmouth, we found a shady spot in a park and ate Ben and jerrys with a side of smoothies. After a good rest we got up and carried on cycling across the Island in order to get another ferry to get into mainland.
we cycled for ages along smooth flat cycling paths and some main roads before coming into Lancing where we had and Indian (popadoms and nann bread) and went to sleep in a wild cycle spot.
